Economic aspects

MAN Truck & Bus stands for consistently efficient. Our goal is the continuous reduction of vehicle operating costs. Through permanent optimisation of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), MAN also achieves ultimate economy and reliability in the development of trucks and buses compliant with Euro 6.

MAN trucks and buses achieve the best values for all deliverable exhaust gas standards in the crucial efficiency fields. Comparison tests carried out by independent professional journals impressively prove the successful reduction of the TCO. One decisive factor here is the savings in fuel: in the face of increased emission requirements that impact per se negatively on consumption, MAN has continuously reduced the fuel consumption for its trucks and buses in recent years. Further success criteria such as reliability, ease of maintenance and value stability also contribute to the consistent efficiency of MAN vehicles. The MAN TGX 18.400, for instance, collected the "Green Truck 2011" award.

Investment incentive and toll advantages for Euro 6
Only approximately five percent of all trucks in Germany currently profit from the investment incentive for early registration as a Euro 6 vehicle. 2013 also does not offer prospects of strong incentives for voluntary compliance with the standard before 2014. No decision is expected with regard to the truck toll in Germany long before mandatory certification as a Euro 6 vehicle. In addition to single benefits at local level for Euro 6 trucks as compared to EEV, Austria offers a toll advantage of 1 cent/km. Holland is expected to promote investments in Euro 6 from 2013. Only Switzerland guarantees Euro 6 trucks a toll advantage of ten percent as compared to Euro 5 trucks. The remaining EU countries and Norway have delayed in promoting early investments in Euro 6 vehicles to date.

Planning with Euro 6
As a result of the different and sometimes relatively weak incentives structures, the costs and benefits of investment in Euro 6 must be weighed up in each case. Additional costs for purchase and maintenance, higher weight and restricted installation space are balanced against specific consideration of operations periods, motorway usage in countries with tolls and ecological preference.

Regardless of your decision to opt for of Euro 5, EEV or Euro 6, MAN delivers best values with regard to emissions and economy. Drive on the overtaking lane with MAN Truck & Bus - with consistently efficient vehicles.

The reference: MAN TGX EfficientLine

With its TGX EfficientLine MAN is providing maximum economy with ultimate environmental conservation. The semitrailer tractor ensures a decisive competitive advantage thanks to a comprehensive fuel savings package. MAN demonstrated this impressively during the Consistently Efficient Tour: over a route exceeding 10,000 km the fuel consumption of the TGX EfficientLine was 3 litres per 100 km less than for a conventional semitrailer. The bill is something to be proud of: with an annual mileage of 150,000 kilometres and a service life of four years, up to 18,000 litres of diesel are saved (equates to around 20,000 euros), and CO2 emissions are reduced by 47 tons. The EfficientLine packages also allow other vehicle configuration upgrades, such as turning truck trailers into savings masters.
