International presence

The way in which markets worldwide are growing together is the dominant factor of economic development. To grasp the global opportunities of the future, MAN Truck & Bus is pursuing an international strategy with production and cooperation locations worldwide. Global presence is also evidenced by 58 MAN centers and more than 1,650 service stations. A major role in MAN growth strategy is played by cooperation, helping to explore and open up new markets.

India: With immediate effect, MAN Truck & Bus AG will take over the company previously operated as a joint venture with its Indian partner Force Motors. The name of the future company will be MAN Trucks India Pvt. Ltd. and it will be a subsidiary of MAN Truck & Bus AG. By taking this strategic decision MAN Truck & Bus AG has emphasised the importance of the Indian market for the company as a whole. The former joint-venture partner Force Motors will continue to supply components and parts for the production of the MAN CLA truck, designed for the Indian market and for export to Asian and African countries. The product range spans chassis, tipper trucks for the construction industry and semitrailer tractors for long-haul transport.

China: In China a strategic partnership with Sinotruk shows sustainable perspectives. Cooperation with China’s leading producer of heavy trucks combines MAN high-end technology and expertise with the production platforms, strong locally based knowhow and sales network of Sinotruk in China — the world’s biggest and fastest growing commercial vehicle market. This involvement with Sinotruk underscores MAN’s strategic focus on the BRIC nations.

Brazil: MAN is pursuing a course of expansion on the South-American market. The MAN TGX and TGS heavy trucks are sold there through MAN Latin America, Brazil’s biggest producer of commercial vehicles and the market leader in South America for trucks of more than 3.5 tonnes. MAN Latin America is an affiliate of MAN SE.

Russia: In recent years, MAN Truck & Bus has managed to establish itself successfully in the Russian truck market. MAN customers in Russia now have access to a comprehensive and highly qualified service network that they can rely on.

Other countries in Africa and Asia: MAN Truck & Bus serves Central Asian markets with the jointly-owned JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan Limited Liability Company, which assembles heavy trucks in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). In several African and Asian countries, local partners assemble trucks and buses that are delivered as CKD kits.

Shareholdings

Rheinmetall AG and MAN Truck & Bus AG formed a joint company for military wheeled vehicles. The new company, which will be known as Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV), is an important provider of complete solutions in the market for military wheeled vehicles, covering the entire range of armoured and unarmoured transport, command and role-specific vehicles for the international armed forces. Rheinmetall has a stake of 51 percent and MAN 49 percent in the new company, which is headquartered in Munich.
