The history of MAN in Turkey dates back to the end of the nineteenth century. As long ago as in 1874 MAN exported trains and freight cars to Turkey.

MAN Türkiye A.Ş. was the first MAN production plant outside of Germany and commenced operations in 1966. Today, MAN Türkiye is MAN's largest bus production plant.

MAN Türkiye can look back almost over a 55-year history of success in the Turkish automotive industry. At its plant in Ankara, Akyurt, the company produces city buses, coaches as well as intercity coaches of the MAN and NEOPLAN brands on a site with a total area of 317,000 m2 and is MAN´s biggest bus production center.

1967
Production of the first truck in Istanbul

1981
MAN exports its first vehicle from Turkish production

1985
Startup of the truck plant and a separate engine factory in Ankara

1986
MAN produces the first articulated bus in Turkey with a turbocharged four stroke diesel engine

1995
Takeover of the industrial leadership by MAN; sale of the plant in Istanbul and concentration of the production of trucks, city buses and coaches in Ankara

1997
Increase of production capacity to 4 bus units per day

1999
MAN produces the first three-axle coach in Turkey

2002
Renaming of the company to “ MAN Türkiye A.Ş.”

2006
MAN produces the first natural gas buses in Turkey

2010
R & D Centre Certification

2011
Startup of the CDP unit (cathodic dip painting)

2014
Production of Neoplan buses in the plant Ankara

2017
Increase of production daily quota from 9 to 11 units

2019
Increase of production daily quota from 11 to 13 units

2020
The daily production is 16 vehicles in double shifts production system.

2021
Due to pandemic, daily production is 14 vehicles in a single shift.
