MAN Truck & Bus
MAN engines have been reliably powering the trucks and buses of the MAN and NEOPLAN brands for years. Under the name "MAN Engines", they also work with full energy in road and rail vehicles, yachts and workboats, electricity generators and communal heating/power stations, construction and agricultural machinery.
Through its intensive research, MAN engine development always finds responses to the environmentally relevant issues of reductions in consumption and emissions. The tradition-steeped location is consistently transforming itself from a pure diesel engine plant to a production and development centre for alternative drive types.
High-technology process secure not only the quality of the engines and components, they also conserve resources and the environment. An example is the cold testing method for engines, that MAN was the first commercial-vehicle manufacturer to use in 2006. It tests engines quickly, reliably and above all environmentally friendly. As opposed to hot testing, cold testing saves around one million litres of diesel fuel as well as over 3,000 tons of CO2per year. Furthermore, test runs have been relocated from the road to the test bench with state-of-the-art test benches. They allow simulation of all traffic, climatic and load situations without polluting the environment.
Dr. Ingo Essel, Plant Manager:
“As the primary international plant of MAN Truck & Bus for alternative and conventional drive systems, our Nuremberg plant has a high level of responsibility: Together with our sister plants, we produce engines and components that are designed to inspire our internal and external customers with first-class quality over the long term. We are proud of our long tradition and extensive experience in engine production, but at the same time we are looking ahead and confronting the challenges of future zero emissions technologies - for even cleaner and safer mobility in the future!”
