Positioning MAN as a relevant stakeholder on important political debates, while representing the interests of the company: that is the task of the Public Affairs department. With the ever growing amount of complex political processes impacting MAN, it becomes imperative to form a coherent position both internally and externally.

Principles

Political processes and regulatory procedures have a direct impact on MAN's corporate activities. The Public Affairs Department detects important political initiatives that are relevant to MAN and informs the company of potential risks and opportunities at the earliest stage possible. It also contributes to the public process leading up to concrete measures, such as regulations, through dialogue with involved stakeholders. Public Affairs therefore acts as a bridge between technology and politics and between the company and society. It acts both as an ambassador before government, industry associations, NGOs, etc., and an internal consultant to the company on relevant matters. The Public Affairs team performs its functions in a transparent and open manner, always relying on concrete data to form any company position.

The Public Affairs activities fall under the following three topical priorities:

  • Sustainability, emissions, and climate action
  • Digitalization, automation, and connectivity
  • Transport policy
