On March 15, the time had come: Christoph Huber, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus Germany, handed over the new team bus to Oliver Mintzlaff, Managing Director of RB Leipzig. Naturally, the top team chose a top vehicle: the Lion's Coach L, which won Coach of the Year in 2020.
""We are very pleased about the partnership with MAN and the new MAN Lion's Coach. Our team travels a lot on away trips - and hopefully, of course, internationally as often as possible. A comfortable team bus as a mobile oasis of well-being is all the more important to make the trips as pleasant as possible for our team. That's why we paid a lot of attention to the quietness of the bus, for example, in order to guarantee a calm atmosphere in the bus. In addition, the driving safety factor was particularly decisive for us, which our new bus fulfills perfectly," says Oliver Mintzlaff, emphazising how important the coach is for the team.

Clear view The MAN OptiView mirror replacement system has cameras on both sides of the vehicle, providing real-time images on two displays that are easy for the driver to see, eliminating blind spots.

Fascinating experience Coach Julian Nagelsmann (right) has taken the place of driver Roland Hahn (left) and is impressed by how calmly and safely Bus can be steered.
“Our new bus is an outstanding signing – not bad for halfway through the season. It was an amazing experience to drive the bus myself. You don't get to try out a 14-metre powerhouse with 510 hp every day,” says Nagelsmann, who was one of the first to sit behind the steering wheel and put the new addition to the team through his paces in a barricaded area. “I’m impressed by how smooth and steady the MAN Lion’s Coach is to drive. With so many away games, it is important that we are able to use the time spent on the bus effectively, particularly with regard to relaxation, recuperation and focussing on our goals. Given all the extra features our new bus has, it is just perfect for that,” says the head coach.
In fact, the new Lion's Coach L offers its up to 33 passengers an absolute feel-good atmosphere. Equipment details such as adjustable backrests, footrests, leg rests, and LED lighting with a lighting concept make even long journeys to and from away matches comfortable and ensure that players can regenerate well after a tough match. The equipment also includes an extensive multimedia system with five up to 22-inch monitors, Apple TV and sound system. This allows professionals and coaches to analyze moves or even celebrate victories while on the move.
The new team bus is a real highlight not only for the team but also for bus driver Roland Hahn. He is particularly pleased with the technical features of the 14-meter-long vehicle. With its automated 12-speed manual transmission, the Lion's Coach guarantees a particularly smooth ride. In addition, a wide variety of assistance systems ensure the absolute safety of passengers and other road users. These include, for example, the electronic stability program, the lane monitoring system, distance-controlled cruise control, emergency braking and attention assistants, and MAN BirdView environment monitoring.
"With the new team bus, the Red Bulls, like many other top European clubs, are relying on an award-winning successful model," said Andreas Tostmann, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus SE and MAN SE. "We are very pleased about the partnership with Red Bull Leipzig and that an MAN bus will continue to take the team safely and comfortably to its matches in the future."
