NFL Munich game: the NFL rides with MAN

It’s THE event of the year: on 13 November, the NFL will make its first stop in Germany and play an official league game at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The NFL stars DK Metcalf and Tom Brady among others will travel to the game in Munich’s Allianz Arena in MAN Lion’s coaches.

Making history together: The NFL and MAN are partners at the "Munich Game".

MAN is chauffeuring the stars in Munich: when the American National Football League (NFL) plays its first official game on German soil on 13 November, the Bavarian commercial vehicle manufacturer will be part of the action. MAN is the Official Supplier of the National Football League and Official Supplier of the 2022 Munich Game, in which the Seattle Seahawks will meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Bucs) in the sold-out Allianz Arena.

Both the Seahawks and the Bucs will be chauffeured around on game day in seven MAN Lion’s coaches each – in cooperation with MAN partners Autobus Oberbayern and Bus Verkehr Berlin. The American football stars will want for nothing: the multi-award-winning 510 hp coach is, among other things, Coach of the Year 2020, and most recently it was awarded the Sustainable Bus Award in 2022 thanks to its high vehicle efficiency and compatibility with alternative fuels.

MAN highlight bus in a special design

MAN will also be visible around the duel between the 2014 Super Bowl winners from Seattle and the 2020 champions from Florida. In addition to the team buses, there is a branded highlight bus in the Munich Game design that can be seen in and around Munich and will serve as a means of transport for well-known influencers.

The German premiere of the world’s top-selling professional league has been captivating American football fans all over Europe since it was announced in February this year. Within a few minutes, all tickets for the mega-event were sold out. By all accounts, around three million tickets could have been sold. This makes the match the biggest single sporting event in Germany since the 2006 World Cup.

NFL is proud of its partnership with MAN

Alexander Steinforth, General Manager of NFL Germany, is very pleased about the cooperation with MAN: “We are very proud that we have been able to gain a partner in MAN that will transport the two teams safely and comfortably to the stadium in MAN buses. MAN is very well known as a sponsor in football with its team buses, so it’s all the more pleasing that the NFL now also rides with MAN. As a Munich-based company, MAN reinforces our decision to have the first official NFL game in Munich.”

Ex-American football star and MAN ambassador Sebastian Vollmer is also very excited. The former offensive tackle and two-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots alongside Tom Brady now works as a TV pundit and can hardly wait for the “egg” to fly through the Munich Arena: “I’m delighted that the NFL is coming to Germany. American football is continuously growing in popularity in this country, so it’s a logical consequence that a game is now taking place in Munich. The game is sparking enormous interest in Germany. It will be a celebration for the entire American football family far beyond the country’s borders,” said the 38-year-old.
