Ever enjoyed such a nice rest stop?

What look like dream homes from an architecture magazine, are in truth toilet blocks on Norway's roads. Once again it proves: the Scandinavians simply love modern design.

01

Gildeskål

A futuristic rest stop with sea view can be found in Gildeskål. Haugen/Zohar Architects and Landskapsfabrikken AS built this combined rest stop and memorial. It is reminiscent of the U-boat "Uredd", which sank off the coast here during the Second World War.

Andøya

This composition made of concrete and mirror glass on a motorway near Andøya invites you to linger. It is intended as a rest stop and viewpoint. The design is by Morfeus Architects.

Moskenesøya

This toilet block in Moskenesøya offers a hip mix of stainless steel and concrete. The surroundings are also very beautiful. Moskenesøya is situated on a southern island of the Lofoten.
