MAN launched its new generation of trucks in February 2020. The company had already brought selected customers on board as experts and consultants and engaged in an intensive dialogue with users during the development phase. The new trucks have since then also been proving their worth in everyday use – convincing not only the jury for the International Truck of the Year Award but also many MAN customers. Time for an initial survey of opinions: So how is the new TGX performing on the roads?

Spedition Riedle

The hauliers at Spedition Riedle, which is being managed in the third and fourth generations and which is based in Leutkirch in Allgäu, specialise in transporting and storing fresh organically produced goods. Riedle handles around 90% of transport services with its own equipment and personnel. The company has long relied on MAN vehicles to this end. The forwarding company was one of the first businesses in Germany to deploy the new generation of trucks and it is currently expanding its fleet with 37 of MAN’s TGX. It will be adding 15 more next year.

Marc Riedle, Head of Forwarding and Sales, likes MAN’s TGX particularly for the following reasons: “The new vehicle impresses with its enormous fuel efficiency. The TGX also offers optimum comfort for drivers with its integrated stationary air-conditioning, improved storage capacities and the large cab.”

Spedition Johann Krieger

It’s particularly the user-friendliness that has also impressed Johann Krieger. The managing director at the Johann Krieger GmbH & Co KG freight-forwarding company, which is based in Rottenburg in Lower Bavaria, has recently added a brand new MAN TGX to his fleet. “We particularly like the new MAN’s interior with the improved steering-wheel adjustment and the practical Smart Select controls. The quiet and comfortable driving behaviour also helps make it a lot easier to cope with long distances,” said the businessman whose main business is mega-trailer transports to and from Italy in praise of the truck. His company mainly transports tiles, marble and glass as well as beverages and automotive components.

The design for the digital driver’s workplace in MAN’s new generation of trucks has already won two renowned design awards. MAN was honoured with a Red Dot Award 2020 in the Brands & Communication Design category for the excellent user experience that the TGX delivers and the German Design Award 2021 in Gold for Excellent Product Design - Human-Machine Interface.

Heimo Staber

One of MAN’s first new TGXs in Austria went to Heimo Staber GesmbH in Carinthia. Managing Director Heimo Staber is totally delighted with the new truck: “We’re thoroughly satisfied with the vehicle, our expectations have even been widely exceeded. We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the low fuel consumption – which is why we promptly ordered another next-generation semi-trailer.”

Bärnreuther+Deuerlein Schotterwerke

MAN’s new generation of trucks is not only being highly praised by customers who operate in the long-haul sector. Bärnreuther+Deuerlein Schotterwerke GmbH & Co KG is also very pleased with its experiences with MAN’s new TGX in the transportation of bulk goods – and has consequently placed orders for more vehicles.

Fleet manager Anna Bärnreuther was persuaded, among other things, by the great benefits that the many assistance systems deliver: “As a company, the safety of other road users is very important to us. But the safety of our drivers is just as important. MAN’s new TGX is equipped with just the right assistance systems.” These include lane-return assistant, emergency-braking assistant, a radar-based cornering aid and a lane-change assistant.

International The family business Abacus Logistics Ltd from Southampton in the UK also relies on the new TGX.

BFS Business Fleet Services

BFS Business Fleet Services GmbH is the address for those wishing to hire MAN’s new generation of trucks in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Croatia. The fact that MAN’s new TGX is now also part of the portfolio has been very well received by the rental company’s customers, said Managing Director Jan Plieninger with satisfaction: “We’re delighted that we can now offer MAN’s brand new generation of trucks for hire. The consistent focus on drivers as well as the high fuel efficiency have already caused our customers to give positive feedback throughout.”

Abacus Logistics

MAN has not only scored with the innovative features that its new generation of trucks boast at the UK’s Southampton-based Abacus Logistics Ltd but also – and as always – with the services it provides. As CEO Peter Carr said on delivery of the first MAN TGX to the UK: “Everyone in our family business is proud of the good relationship we maintain with our loyal customers, which is something that they also greatly appreciate. MAN has, over recent years, clearly implemented the same approach to first-class customer services. Our local MAN branch understands the demands of our business, their importance to our success and the need to keep our vehicles 100% operational at all times.”
