MAN Nutzfahrzeuge plans to concentrate the NEOPLAN coach production in Plauen

In the course of the restructuring of its Bus Division the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group is planning to reorganise the NEOPLAN locations Plauen and Pilsting. In future the mass-produced, technologically leading premium coaches are to be concentrated at the Plauen location under the NEOPLAN brand. The plant in Pilsting is in future to specialise in the production and the bodies and fittings for individual customer solutions working in friendly cooperation with MAN. Joachim Reinmuth, currently the Managing Director of NEOPLAN Bus GmbH, will take over the entrepreneurial responsibility in this respect.

About a third of the current workforce of roughly 600 is to remain at the Pilsting location. All further employees are to be given equivalent jobs in the booming truck division at the Munich location. The restructuring is to be carried out in agreement with the employee representatives with whom corresponding discussions have already been started.

In future MAN will still be keeping to its Bus Division and the NEOPLAN brand. By means of a clear focus of the activities and products in the locations different customer requirements can be more effectively satisfied. Core products and ongoing large projects will remain unaffected by the planned reorganisation. All customers will be keeping their familiar contacts.

The planned reorganisation is a further step on the way to making the bus division more competitive and economically successful and to developing sustainable concepts for the German bus plants. Just recently in January investments in two digit millions for the competence center for bus chassis production at the Salzgitter location were promised within the framework of an agreement on the location. Further measures are geared to achieving higher productivity and a further improvement of the process and product quality.
