Individuality is of major importance at MAN. If you want a MAN TGX or a MAN TGE with a special touch, for example, MAN Individual is exactly where you need to go. The experts there take care of nearly every customer request that goes beyond series production.
The MAN production approach is unique: The tractor units and chassis destined for customisation receive their external paint, such as Carmine Red or Nardo Grey on the assembly line. These trucks then go directly from the MAN production line to MAN Individual at the Truck Modification Centers in Wittlich, Munich or Krakow, and the Van Modification Center in Sady.
MAN and NEOPLAN Bus customers can also enjoy custom features, all handled by the Bus Modification Center in Ankara.
The MAN fleet has had a flagship since spring 2021. The MAN TGX Individual Lion S shows how MAN can meet individual customer requests. The many accents on these outstanding trucks really catch the eye. It is immediately clear that MAN Individual picks up where series production finishes.
We take a look behind the scenes of the MAN Truck Modification Center in Wittlich, where MAN trucks are customised according to individual customer wishes, with extraordinary exterior design and unique cab interiors.

The finishing process starts with the removal of a range of interior components by a skilled technician – from the seats to linings and door cards. Next come the exterior fittings such as sun visors, wheel trims and radiator grilles. These are replaced and embellished with high quality components developed by MAN Individual. Then the team moves on to fitting new interior components such as locker frames.
The individual interior fitting out of the sporty, yet elegant comfort cab starts with the sleeping space by installing the cables and wiring needed for the devices that will be installed in the future. These include the power supply for the flatscreen TV or microwave. All connections and wires will later disappear once more behind the standard production panel.
The pre-fitted cabinet above the sleeping space has room for a microwave and coffee machine, but it also provides additional storage space. Once all the electronic devices and their wiring have been installed, the previously removed panels are refitted, just like on the assembly line. This is how to create a cab in a class of its own, available directly from MAN.
Experienced specialists take care of the installation of all new components at MAN Individual. The work is not carried out on a moving production line as in the factory. The factory relies on stationary assembly while work is undertaken on the tractor units – just like here, where a colleague is replacing the interior door card on the driver’s side. Air vents with red border accents and an exclusive chrome insert with “Individual” lettering adorn the door cards with leather-look arm rests.
Before they are fitted, the front grilles or wheel rims are finished in the in-house paint shop. These high-gloss painted components are real eye-catchers, such as the radiator grille in black and red piano lacquer. The standard production anthracite grey look makes way for a breath-taking design that can easily be recognised from a distance. These and other exclusive components can be commissioned when the tractor unit is first ordered.
The new sun visor designed by MAN Individual sets an exceptional accent in the cab design. It replaces the standard visor, which has been available since the TGA was introduced in 2000. The neat new element, with the Individual Lion S decal once again emphasises the recognition factor of the exclusive MAN. However, at the same time it is truly functional because the redesigned sun visor reduces fuel consumption.
A symbol of pride and passion: the multi-part chrome light surround with four additional spotlights above the new sun visor has proven very popular with truck drivers. It is carefully fitted to the roof of the Individual Lion S tractor unit with the aid of an electric lift platform. A unique appearance is guaranteed.
Mirror caps in carbon-look with the traditional MAN lion add to the custom appearance of the MAN TGX Individual Lion S tractor unit. They are fitted shortly before the truck is finished and complete the overall harmonious image. The colour used delivers an understated elegance.
The seats are removed to make it easier to cover them with custom upholstery. The standard fabric seat covers give way to a black leather and Alcantara combo with striking red diamond stitching. A clearly visible applique lion, also in red diamond stitching, takes pride of place on the headrests. These distinctive covers add value to the comfortable driver’s and passenger seats.
Once they have been recovered, the driver’s and passenger seats are lifted back into the cab using a special lift platform and fitted in their correct positions. Red seatbelts highlight the dynamic look of the upgraded interior. Special step lighting is also fitted in the driver’s cab.
The multifunction steering wheel with red stitching fits seamlessly into the overall style of the driver’s cab. It further highlights the sports image of the MAN TGX Individual Lion S.
Unmistakeable: MAN Individual leaves its signature with discreet decals on the doors. The Individual logo can be found on the new sun visor, the armrest and on the inside and outside of the doors. Once a custom tractor unit has been through in-house acceptance checks, that’s another vehicle made to suit the customer’s wishes, ready for delivery.
